Iniesta rejects first contract offer

Andres Iniesta has reportedly rejected Barcelona’s first offer of renewing his contract at the club, as it is ‘far from his parameters’.

The 29-year-old has been reported in recent months as in talks with the Catalans over extending his current contract, which expires in June 2015.

Said to have been offered a three-year extension through to the end of the 2017-18 campaign, the player was recently revealed by President Sandro Rosell as close to agreeing terms.

However, it has been reported this week by Cadena SER that Iniesta has in fact turned down Barca’s first official proposal.

It is understood that whilst he is content with a salary that does not place him even in the top five best paid players in the club, the current offer on the table is still ‘far from his parameters’.

Reports are that both the player and club will take their time to now assess the situation.
