Barcelona line up Mata

Barcelona have been alerted to Juan Mata’s situation at Chelsea are may make a move for the playmaker this summer.

The Catalans were thought originally interested in the Spain international in 2011, before the Stamford Bridge outfit agreed a €28m deal.

In light of increasing reports that returned manager Jose Mourinho would now consider offers for the 25-year-old, Barca are seen by Mundo Deportivo as once more considering a bid.

It is understood that Tito Vilanova’s side would make a move for Mata, who is currently with Spain’s Confederations Cup campaign on two conditions.

First, that the player accepts that a first-team place will have to be fought for, rather than guaranteed, and second, only if Thiago Alcantara and Cristian Tello both leave the Camp Nou this transfer window.

Last season, Mata contributed 19 goals and 35 assists to Chelsea in 63 appearances, contributing directly to over 37 per cent of the team’s goals scored in all competitions last season.
