Valdes wants free transfer now

Victor Valdes is reportedly pushing Barcelona to allow him to sign for another club this summer and for no transfer fee.

The goalkeeper is the point of transfer speculation heading into the summer market in light of having decided not to renew his contract at the Camp Nou beyond its June 2014 expiry.

Reports continue to link Monaco with a move, but it is still unclear if Barca are going to sell the player this summer or keep hold of him for the final year of his deal and then allow him to leave on a free in 2014.

However, Sport today allege that Valdes is hoping for a third option which would see him leave the club on a free transfer, but this summer.

It is understood that the goalkeeper feels that he merits a ‘beneficial departure’, where he can ask any interested club that wants to sign him for higher wages, if they do not have to pay a transfer fee.

Club officials are reportedly reluctant to allow this out of the precedent it may set for other players further down the line.
