Jose Mourinho is understood to have punished Gonzalo Higuain for his poor form and lack of physical fitness.
The Argentine was reportedly given four days of holiday over the weekend, along with Alvaro Arbeloa and Luka Modric, as the trio are all suspended for Real Madrid’s weekend match with Rayo Vallecano.
However, according to Marca, Mourinho informed Higuain on Friday that his allowance has been dropped to three days, due to the striker’s poor form of late.
Mourinho is also seen as keen for the player to regain his physical fitness, having gained weight in recent weeks.
Higuain, who has gone six games without a goal, was reportedly furious at having to change his plans and bring forward by a day his return from a planned break in England.
