Scolari: Neymar will miss Germany

Brazil Coach Felipe Scolari has said he doesn’t expect Barcelona forward to be fit to play Germany in the World Cup semi-final.

Neymar was stretchered off in the final minutes of the hosts’ win over Colombia and it was reported he was taken to a hospital in Fortaleza.

Scolari confirmed that Neymar was taken for further examination, ruled him out of the next game and criticised the decision of Spanish referee Carlos Velasco Carballo not to book the player’s assailant, Camilo Zuniga.

“He wasn’t booked for the foul on Neymar but he shows Thiago Silva a yellow card for standing and pulling the goalkeeper,” Scolari lamented, according to Carousel SER.

The caution shown to Silva rules the Brazil captain out of the game against Germany through suspension, with Neymar’s injury further adding to Scolari’s woes.

“Neymar is in hospital, with a lot of pain in his rib and he left crying,” Scolari continued.

“It’s going to be difficult for him to recover in time for Germany.”
