Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis approaches Barcelona

Filipe Luis – who is out of contract at Atletico Madrid this summer – has offered himself to Barcelona, according to a report in Diario Sport.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at the Wanda Metropolitano this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to the Blaugrana to provide back-up for Jordi Alba.

Diego Godin has already confirmed his departure this summer while Juanfran Torres is also out of contract, with Lucas Hernandez joining Bayern Munich in a defensive clearout at Los Rojiblancos.

The report acknowledges that Atleti have offered a deal to the Brazilian and there is no commitment from Barca’s side in regards to signing him this summer.

The left-back started his career at Brazilian side Figueirense before moving to European football with a switch to Ajax in 2004 and has also enjoyed stints at Deportivo La Coruna and Chelsea.

Separate reports from his native country confirms an approach from the Catalan giants while Borussia Dortmund are also said to hold an interest in a potential move.
