Levante president Quico Catalan has blasted the use of VAR as a ‘disgrace’ after feeling his side were harshly treated during a 3-2 defeat at Athletic Club.
A last-minute penalty scored by Iker Munain won the game for the Basque side in controversial circumstances with visiting defender Erick Cabaco later dismissed for protestations to the officials.
“Technology is good, but I'm seeing something that goes beyond that and it is a disgrace,” Catalan is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.
“The players do not understand it, I say that I feel ashamed of how it is being carried out…I believe in VAR but this is not good.”
The defeat leaves Levante just three positions and three points above the relegation zone in the Spanish top flight.
