Jordi Alba hopeful Barcelona sign Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata

Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has publicly stated he is hopeful media reports of the club signing Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata are true.

RAC1 reported this week that the Catalan giants are considering a deal for the Spain international who joined the Blues from Real Madrid in a €65m deal last summer.

“Morata has been a fantastic player for many years,” Alba told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.

“I appreciate him a lot and we have been teammates (with the Spanish national team) but ultimately it is up to the club as to make a move.

“New players are always welcome at Barca and Alvaro would be no different.”

The Spain international has found the back of the net 16 goals in 45 appearances for the West London outfit but has once again fallen out of favour.

The Catalan media outlet’s story hints the striker would be willing to fulfil a bit-part role at the Blaugrana rather than hold a similar standing at Stamford Bridge.
