Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos reveals knee injury

Toni Kroos has revealed he missed Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Valencia on Saturday due to ‘knee problems’.

Unusually, Madrid did not post an injury update for the central midfielder who has taken it upon himself to tell his followers on social media of his injury.

“Quick update: Still working on my knee problems after the Roma match…,” Kroos said on Twitter. “Back asap (as soon as possible) as always.”

The player’s unavailability has afforded greater player time to youngster Dani Ceballos, Fede Valverde and Marcos Llorente.

The German international is in his fifth season in the Spanish capital and has helped the club to three European Cup titles alongside the 2017 La Liga title.

Kroos has netted 13 goals across 207 appearances for Los Blancos.
