Suarez: Madrid’s Euro success annoying

Luis Suarez has admitted Barcelona’s recent failures in the Champions League, coupled with Real Madrid’s successes, is infuriating.

Madrid have lifted the trophy in each of the last three seasons and in four of the last five, despite Barca winning seven of the last eight domestic trophies.

“The situation with the Champions League is maddening for us,” Suarez told RAC1 radio.

“We have won so many domestic titles but Madrid have won each of the last three Champions League crowns, it is historic and is something that bugs us.

“It is an extremely tough tournament to win and it has to be done by the team, it is not fair to expect him (Lionel Messi) to do everything by himself, despite how talented he is, he needs us too.

“Messi is more motivated than ever to win it, now that he is our captain he wants to lift trophies.

“The new players? Their quality has surprised me and they all fit the Barca style of play, they all work hard and have embedded really well with the squad.

“Real Madrid? You can never write them off, they have a lot of quality and a new Coach, we know how they will challenge.”
