Zidane: Benz & Bale will stay

Zinedine Zidane has insisted that Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who are set to start against Leganes, will stay at Real Madrid.

Bale’s relationship with Zidane has reportedly broken down, amidst a lack of game time, while Benzema’s performances have come under attack, but the pair will fill in for Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo when Madrid host Leganes in La Liga on Saturday evening.

“We need them and I’ll do everything possible so that they’re not affected by what’s been said outside. They’ll stay with us,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I know all our players want to play, but it isn’t possible. The message is for everyone, not just Bale and Benzema, that we’re sticking together because there’s a month left of the season and we have it all to do.

“No Carvajal or Isco? It’s a shame losing two players, but we can’t do anything about it. We’ll monitor them daily, but we won’t risk them either.

“If any player isn’t 100 percent, he won’t be in the squad. Double or the Champions League? Everything has value, I can’t choose one or the other, but what we can win is the Champions League and we’re going to give everything for it.

“Nacho? He’s not suffered any relapses and his recovery is going normally, but it must be remembered that he’s not trained with the team for a month.

“He’s much better now, but we don’t want to risk anything.”
