Mourinho still wary of eliminated City

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is surprised by Manchester City's poor form in the Champions League this season.

The Premier League champions have failed to win a single game in the competition so far, but the Portuguese knows that Roberto Mancini's side will still pose a threat when the two meet tomorrow.

“Before the tournament began, you'd have to say they were one of the favourites,” he told a Press conference. “So it is not normal that they have been eliminated so soon.

“That's just a part of football though – they are in trouble and that's a disappointment for them, but I'm sure they are still going to be motivated to win.

“Everyone knew as soon as they saw the group that it was going to be a difficult one. Madrid, Dortmund and City all aspire to win this. At Madrid however, we knew how to react.”

He also commented on the recent performances of Karim Benzema, as well as highlighting some of the player who will miss out at the Etihad Stadium.

“When the team plays well, it's always better for the forwards. I've read some of the reports about Karim's game against Athletic Bilbao, but for me the whole team did well.

“Michael Essien has physical problems,” he added. “So could not travel, and Morata, Marcelo and Higuain also couldn't make it.”

The former Chelsea went then went on to remark about his return to England, and once again didn't shy away from the fact that he wants to one day manage again in the Premier League.

“I never hide my feeling about England. Some people may not like it, but I feel a special attraction to England.

“All the games are tough, and I always enjoyed the challenge.”
