Cruyff: Madrid could use youth more

Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff has commented on the recent controversy surrounding Real Madrid’s youth system.

Los Blancos have come under fire lately for not using their younger players in the light of injury to some regular first-teamers, and Cruyff feels it something Barca’s eternal rivals have not taken advantage of.

“Madrid has a good academy but could take more advantage of it, although everyone has the right to do things as they like", said Cruyff, who spoke to assembled media after the presentation of the new Catalan team shirt.

The Dutchman also believes Barcelona can take back the La Liga crown they lost to Madrid last season.

“Barca are going really well. Our biggest rivals are usually Madrid, who are eight points behind, and there is a gap.

“We have everything in our favour in the sense that Barca can only throw it away themselves now by how they play.”

He also commented on the good start made by Tito Vilanova since taking over from Pep Guardiola.

“Do you think when the Coach changes they forget how to play football? Do you think Guardiola taught Messi to play or that Vilanova will reduce Messi's quality?

“If Tito is there it is because he knows a lot and knows how to manage the dressing room in difficult times”, he explained
