Trashorras: 6-1 loss ‘hard to explain’

Rayo Vallecano midfielder Roberto Trashorras is at a loss to explain his side's 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Real Valladolid.

What looked like being a close game between two well matched sides descended into a brutal rout at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla yesterday, Rayo ripped apart by their hosts despite taking a fifth minute lead.

“We are all annoyed because it was a game we hoped to win,” the former Celta Vigo man told AS.

“We got an early lead but struggled to read the game. It's hard to explain what happened…”

Unlike his boss Paco Jemez however, who personally took responsibility for the result, Trashorras believes the blame should be shared collectively.

“We are all to blame. The Coach has taken responsibility, but we were the ones on the field and we have to do what he asks of us.”

The set-piece specialist is hoping to atone when Rayo host Deportivo La Coruna next weekend.

“Against Depor it will be difficult, but we are at home. We have to go out with confidence and the desire to get three points. It's a very good opportunity in front of our own people, because although they're a hard rival, we can win.”
