Barcelona defender Marc Bartra is set to make his first appearance of the season when the Blaugrana take on Granada on Saturday.

The 21-year-old will start for Tito Vilanova's side at centre-back at Camp Nou, after Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique's recent injury scares.

Captain Puyol has been laid-low with knee ligament damage, whilst his defensive partner Pique limped out of the side's 3-2 win over Spartak Moscow on Wednesday with an ankle problem.

Spanish Under-21 international Bartra should be preferred to Alex Song in the centre of defence, after the former Arsenal man proved unreliable in the position against the Russians.

Bartra is a La Masia graduate, having joined the club at the age of 11. He has made four La Liga appearances for Barca over the past four seasons.
