Levante dangerous for Barcelona, warns Ernesto Valverde

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has warned his players that the weekend trip to Levante will be a complicated match.

The Blaugrana have lost at the ground twice in recent years including a memorable 5-4 loss late in the 2017-18 campaign.

Valverde’s side were also edged out at Levante in their Copa del Rey tie last season – even though the Catalan giants progressed over the course of the two legs.

“Levante press high and have a lot of options in attack, so it is one of those games where anything could happen,” Valverde told his pre-match press conference, as cited by Marca.

“They looked back to themselves beating Real Sociedad the other day. If they take the ball off you have a deadly backlash with Morales and Hernani – they have a strong identity and they have very clear strengths.

“Our intention is always to get ahead. If we do not starts games strongly then we get stuck. Matches away from home are the ones that become fundamental for us.”

Levante won 2-1 at Real Sociedad in midweek and currently sit in mid-table, while Barcelona top the league.
