Spanish second division renamed LaLiga SmartBank

The Spanish League has rebranded the second tier of the football system LaLiga SmartBank after it’s previous title of LaLiga 1|2|3.

Cadena Cope outline how the change will come when the competition commences this season on 17 August, in conjunction with Banco Santander.

SmartBank is the branded proposal of products and services of Spanish bank Santander for young people between 18 and 31 years of age.

Banco Santander has been the main sponsor of the Spanish league for the past three seasons, a commercial agreement with the world of football that is complemented by those held with the Champions League or the Copa Libertadores.

In addition to this, it has been confirmed that LaLiga Santander will continue to be the name of the Primera division of professional football in Spain.

“LaLiga is synonymous with innovation and commitment to the future, so we are delighted to accompany Banco Santander in its commitment to young people, and to continue betting on strengthening this, since upon season, with LaLiga SmartBank,”  said Juan Carlos Díaz, the Commercial and Marketing director of LaLiga.
