Raphael Varane has promised Real Madrid fans that “when the competitive competition starts, we will be something else.”
Los Blancos continued their underwhelming pre-season campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham on Tuesday, extending their winless run.
“I understand that people want to see an improvement,” Varane told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“We are going to correct mistakes and we are going to improve. I also want to see Madrid win and I understand that people want us to win. When the competition starts it will be something else.
“We have to have peace of mind. In 2017 we started the preseason the same and then we won competitions.
“I understand the expectations. We have to rely on our work. We are working hard on a physical and tactical level. We have to have peace of mind and faith in our work.
“I don't see Zinedine Zidane worried. He gives us peace of mind because he knows we have the potential. Zidane knows exactly what we have to do. I understand that more is expected of us.”
