Real Madrid fans blast ‘too timid’ transfer policy

Real Madrid fans ‘see black clouds’ hanging over the clubs with four in five finding the club’s €300m summer spend ‘too timid’, report Marca.

The Madrid-based daily carried out a poll in which over 200,000 fans participated with the results damning for Los Blancos, who were humbled 7-3 by rivals Atletico Madrid in a pre-season friendly.

It continues a miserable summer for the club in terms of their on-field preparation, with a series of injuries including a season-ending knee ligament injury to forward Marco Asensio.

Four in five voters thought that the club’s transfer business has been ‘too timid’ and ‘insufficient’, with particular focus on the centre of midfield.

Furthermore, despite over €300m being spent on players this summer, fans see only the addition of Eden Hazard as changing the starting XI ahead of next season.

The report adds that “Nacho, Marcelo, (Toni) Kroos, Lucas Vázquez, Isco, (Karim) Benzema and even (Luka) Modric” have negative feelings among the fans.

Another finding of the report is that four out of six voters are against the possible signing of former Barcelona star Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
