Barcelona are monitoring the progress of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz with a view to a future move, report Diario AS.
The Catalan giants have been linked to the 20-year-old German international alongside Liverpool and most strongly of all, Bayern Munich.
“Honestly, one day I will have to take the next step,” the report cites Havertz is saying in an interview with Bild in Germany.
“The truth is that I still do not know if Bayern Munich would be the next and correct step for me. The move abroad will be an option, for the moment I do not waste much time thinking about that.”
Havertz starred last season by netting 20 goals and providing seven assists, moving him into the ranks of the German national squad and earning him a reported market value of €100m.
The player is said to be in no rush to leave Bayer and is hopeful of playing for the club for at least one more season, but the race to secure his signature for next year may have already begun.
