Spain Under-21 goalkeeper Dani Martin set for Real Betis

Sporting Gijon goalkeeper and Spain Under-21 international Dani Martin is set to join Real Betis, according to multiple reports.

Radio Marca and El Comercio both say that an agreement has been reached which will see the shot-stopper transferred for an initial €5m with an additional €1m in add-ons.

Martin will add competition for the number one spot at the club alongside Joel Robles, after Pau Lopez joined Roma last week in a deal worth in the region of €30m.

The 21-year-old has made just four senior appearances in the Segunda for Sporting but has been capped by Spain from Under-17 level through to the Under-21 side.

Betis have already signed Real Sociedad striker Juanmi and Villarreal left wing-back Alfonso Pedraza this summer, while they are also keen to land Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias.

It is noted by the report that any additional incomings this summer would be dependant on sales – such as Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, should Giovani Lo Celso – who is wanted by Tottenham – exit the Seville-based club this summer.
