Real Madrid forward Cristo Gonzalez joining Udinese

Udinese have secured the signing of Real Madrid forward Cristo Gonzalez for €1.5m but Madrid possess a buyback option.

Marca outline the operation which takes the Tenerife-born forward to the Italian club, which sees Los Blancos retain 50% of the player’s rights.

Madrid’s half ownership of the player alongside their buyback clause explains the low fee for the 21-year-old, who hit an impressive 21 league goals for the club’s Castilla team last season.

Gonzalez has made four first-team appearances for Madrid – all arriving last season and all as a substitute – and scored in the Copa del Rey against Melilla, while he appeared in a league win at Real Betis in January.

The report claims that a host of La Liga teams were interested in his signature this summer including Leganes, Granada, Espanyol, Valladolid and Levante but he instead opted for Italy.

He is now scheduled to fly on Tuesday to Italy to undergo his medical examination, sign and be presented as a new Udinese player, with Madrid monitoring his progress.
