Two dead after crash involving Sevilla striker Joao Maleck

Two people have died following a car accident involving Sevilla Atletico striker Joao Maleck – who himself was injured – in Mexico.

The Mexican youth international striker joined the Andalusian club in January on a loan deal with an option to buy, it has been confirmed.

The 20-year-old joined Porto B on loan from Santos Laguna in 2017 but switched to Sevilla Atletico in January with the Andalusian club holding an option to buy.

“They had followed me before Porto and, in fact, we went to Spain earlier than Portugal,” Maleck explained on ESPN digital, in quotes dated back to September 2018.

“I always liked the club because it is one of the biggest in Spain and I am delighted to have arrived at the club.”
