Valencia join the race to sign Gianluigi Buffon

Valencia are reportedly interested in a move for veteran goal keeper Gianluigi Buffon this summer.

Buffon, 41, has confirmed he will be leaving the Ligue 1 champions when his contract expires on June 30 and there is a growing list of clubs keen to make a move for the former Italian international.

Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United are believed to be the current front runners for the ex Juventus star, with Portuguese newspaper A Bola also reporting that Valencia and Serie A side Atalanta are also considering an approach.

Valencia could be in the market for a goal keeper if current first choice Neto, makes his rumoured move north to FC Barcelona ahead of the start of the 2019-20 season.

Marcelino's side had been open to the possibility of a swap deal between Neto and Jasper Cillessen, with the Dutch international confirming that he wants first team football, away from the Camp Nou, however that option has stalled.

Buffon has confirmed that he is not considering retirement from domestic football, and will be considering his options.
