Atalanta to sign Sevilla striker Luis Muriel

Sevilla striker Luis Muriel will join Italian club Atalanta on a permanent deal worth an initial €15m, according to multiple reports.

The Colombian international joined Fiorentina on loan in January, scoring nine goals in 23 games in all competitions under Stefano Pioli, and later Vincenzo Montella's side.

Cadena Cope outline how the striker will move for an initial €15m plus a further €3m in variables, while ABC de Sevilla also verify this information with an announcement seemingly imminent.

Muriel was Sevilla’s most expensive ever transfer in their history when he joined the club in a €20m deal from Sampdoria two summers ago.

However, the striker’s value plummeted following a prolonged run of poor form in the Andalusian capital, where he netted just eight goals across 35 La Liga appearances.

Despite an upturn in form upon his return to Italy with Fiorentina in January, La Viola did not decide to sign the striker permanently and his value had dropped from Sevilla’s 2017 fee.

The club are said to have closed the agreement to recoup a large chunk of that fee with this deal.
