Getafe have been handed a boost of €5m from Norwich City’s promotion to the Premier League in England, report Marca.
Emiliano Buendia was sold to the Carrow Road outfit by Getafe for an undisclosed fee a year ago but the deal included a clause in which Los Azulones would receive a financial windfall should the English side win promotion.
The Canaries romped to this season’s Championship title and their first return to the English top-flight in 2016, meaning Getafe have now received €5m in bonuses.
Argentine midfielder Buendia netted eight goals for the Championship winners across 38 matches in the second tier this campaign, proving a key figure for Daniel Farke’s side.
Buendia only started seven La Liga games for Getafe – where he stated his career – but failed to earn a long-term place in the club’s first team squad.
He was loaned out by the Madrid-based club in the 2017/18 campaign to Cultural y Leonesa in the second tier, where he made 40 appearances in La Liga 123.
