‘Big clubs’ want Roma forward and Real Madrid target Nicolo Zaniolo – agent

The agent of Roma forward and Italy Under-21 international Nicolo Zaniolo – a reported Real Madrid target – claims ‘big clubs’ want the player.

Last month, Diario AS cited a report in Sportmediaset that Madrid’s interest in the player began when the two sides met in the Champions League earlier in the campaign.

“I can only confirm our willingness to sign on with Roma,” he told the website.

“I believe, however, it’s clear and understandable to everyone that there’s a need to restructure Nicolo’s contract.

“I don’t think I’m a visionary in saying that compared to 12 months ago, the lad’s outlook has changed profoundly.

“Needless to say that for some months now, I’ve been getting a lot of phone calls from many big clubs, expressing a willingness to buy him, but I won’t say who.

“Nicolo, however, is only focused on Roma and getting fourth place. I’d talked about him before to Monchi and then Massara.

“We’d promised to talk again after Eastero or at the end of the season at the latest. Now all we have to do is wait for the Giallorossi to call us.

“Of course we’ll have to find a meeting point on money, but €200,000 won’t stop us from finding one.”

A previous report in AS claimed Madrid’s interest in the 19-year-old rocketed after scouting Porto defender Eder Militao – who they have now signed – during their Champions League Round of 16 tie in March.

Zaniolo joined Roma from Inter this summer – as part of the deal that took Radja Nainggolan to the Milanese club – and has netted six goals in 33 appearances this season.

Reports have claim Zaniolo is priced at €60m by Roma.
