Valverde: Squad players went above and beyond against Huesca

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde praised his fringe players as they ground out a 0-0 La Liga draw against Huesca on Saturday.

Valverde made ten changes to the starting line up from the team that beat Manchester United 1-0 in midweek – with the return leg at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

Changes were expected but not as many as the formee Athletic Bilbao manager implemented, however he was happy with their performance in Aragon.

"You have to understand the circumstances around this game.

"We have a very important game on Tuesday, and many players in the squad have played a lot of football this season.

"The players that came in knew what they had to do and they performed.

"I am happy because the players that came in today went above and beyond."

Valverde is expected to continue his rotation policy in the coming weeks, if they progress into the Champions League semi final, after ending the day with a nine-point lead at the top of the table.
