Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias has rejected the opportunity to join Everton after his €28m release clause was activated, say Marca.
The 25-year-old only joined the Catalan club this summer in a €10m deal from Celta Vigo and he has netted nine goals in 17 La Liga starts.
The Galician native netted 23 goals for Real Zaragoza last season on a loan spell while the prior campaign he grabbed 34 goals for Celta’s B team.
The report claims Iglesias wants to remain at the RCDE Stadium this January despite being likely to increase his wages should he have accepted a move to England.
