Gabriel Paulista ‘would welcome’ Javier Hernandez at Valencia

Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista believes West Ham striker Javier Hernandez is a ‘great player’ who ‘would add a lot’ to their squad.

Earlier this week, Diario AS cited a report in Levante-EMV that Los Che boss Marcelino Garcia Toral has given the green light for the deal while the player himself is keen on a move to the Mestalla.

Marca have also reported that both Real Betis and Sevilla are also keen on Chicharito, while the Hammers have put a €20m price on his head.

“It is only talk, but we know he is a great player who would add a lot to us,” Paulista is cited as saying by Marca.

“We do not know if the transfer will happen but we know that if it does then it would add more quality to the squad and further competition.

“We already have a very good squad with lots of quality, but this signing would help.”

Mexico's all-time leading scorer is said to want regular first-team football and is keen for a move to La Liga due to lack of game time at the East London club.

Hernandez spent the 2014/15 campaign on loan at Real Madrid, where he netted seven goals in seven league starts and has played in Germany and England since.

In an interview with Marca last month, the strike ‘did not rule out’ a departure from the Hammers: “My only desire is to play as much as possible and earn a starting place.”
