Barcelona have confirmed that defender Samuel Umtiti will return on December 30 to continue treatment for his knee injury.
Umtiti has not featured since Barca’s 2-1 defeat to Leganes on September 29, but the club said in a statement on Sunday morning that he would join back up with the squad next weekend.
The 25-year-old had spent the last few weeks undergoing physical therapy in Qatar, but he will begin a bout of conservative treatment after the Christmas holidays.
Sport reacted by writing the Frenchman’s recovery was ‘on the right track’, while the Blaugrana beat Celta Vigo 2-0 without him on Saturday to end the year top of La Liga.
