Real Sociedad have confirmed their midfielder Luca Sangalli is in hospital after suffering a mild stroke on Wednesday.
The Spaniard has impressed for La Real this season and scored in the recent 3-1 Basque derby victory at Athletic Club Bilbao.
“Luca Sangalli suffered a mild stroke earlier today,” read a Real Sociedad statement on Wednesday.
“He is currently in the stroke unit at the local Donostia University hospital where he will be monitored.”
Sangalli is reported by Spanish media to have phoned the club doctor whilst feeling unwell during an exam for his industrial engineering master course at university.
The 23-year-old is said to be responding well to his treatment.
