Rafael Benitez has been presented with a lucrative offer from Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG, say reports.
The Spaniard has failed to guide his Newcastle United side to victory in his 10 Premier League games to date this season, collecting just three points.
Diario AS cite a report in The Mirror that the former Valencia and Real Madrid boss has been offered an €11m salary by the Far East club.
Such an offer would double Benitez’s current salary while his relationship with Magpies owner Mike Ashley is said to be increasingly fractious.
Portuguese boss Vitor Pereira remains at the helm of Shanghai SIPG but the report says that it is the second time the club have made a move for the Spaniard, following Newcastle’s relegation in 2016.
