Ivan Rakitic has called on Barcelona to replicate their rich history at Wembley as they take on Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The Croatian wants the club to rekindle their European successes achieved at the stadium in 1991 and 2011 to end their poor run of form.
“We are all aware of the history Barcelona has at this stadium,” Rakitic told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“Wembley has given this club a lot of success and hopefully this match will produce a similar result from our point of view.
“We want to give ourselves those moments of joy and celebration by beating one of the strongest teams in European football, Tottenham.
“We will give our all to produce a positive result in this game.
“We are keen to prove our doubters wrong and show that we are a really strong side despite a few under-par results.
“We have to be strong as a unit, in both defence and attack, because there are only six group stage matches and you do not have a lot of room for error.”
