Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has told midfielder Ivan Rakitic he will not receive his requested new contract this summer.
The Croatian international was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer before committing to Barca and stating he wanted a new contract offer this season.
“For this campaign, we will not be able to go through with the gesture that Rakitic is asking of us,” Bartomeu told Onda Cero, as cited by Diario Sport.
“Next season we can look at it in relation to new revenue.”
The club are thought to be in talks over extended deals for Sergi Busquets and Jordi Alba.
