Ernesto Valverde has denied he or Barcelona have been approached by La Liga regarding a potential match in the United States this season.
Barca’s scheduled January league outing away to Catalan rivals Girona have been rumoured to be the match the league wished to play abroad this campaign.
However, Valverde insisted he believes the situation is ‘too early’ for such an event and denied knowledge of such a game.
“I don’t know if La Liga have talked to Girona but what is sure is that they have not spoken to me,” Valverde told reporters.
“I know nothing about the matter. As to whether or not we will play at the end of January, let’s see how things develop and to evaluate the situation at the time.
“When the time comes then we will talk about it but I think that, right now, things are too early as not everything has been worked out yet.”
