Real Valladolid president Carlos Suarez admitted the club will accept any punishment for the condition over their pitch against Barcelona.

The pitch at their Estadio Jose Zorrilla had been re-laid only four days before the game and was notably bumpy, with La Liga confirming they would open a case against them.

“We thought it was going to be better than it was and that it wouldn't come up as much as it did,” Suarez told Cadena Ser radio, as cited by ESPN FC.

“It's our responsibility and if a fine is given, I obviously think it will be just.

“When you've just laid it out, even if it is of very good quality, it can come up, although we didn't think it would do so as much as it did.

“We had limited time (to sort out their pitch) because we gained promotion (midway through June)and we thought we would arrive on time.”
