Barcelona have confirmed the release clause of defender Samuel Umtiti stands at €500m after he signed a new long-term contract.
The central defender has penned a new deal at the Camp Nou until June 2023 and this sees the clause rise significantly from the previous €60m.
The French international had been linked with a possible move away, with Diario AS reporting he was previously the second lowest paid member of Barca’s first-team squad.
“Samuel’s new release clause stands at €500m,” Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed to reporters on Monday, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.
The 24-year-old joined Barca from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2016 for €25m and has gone on to make 83 appearances at Camp Nou, winning a Liga title and two Copa del Rey.
