Celta join race for Sevilla’s Pizarro

Celta Vigo have joined the race to sign out-of-favour Sevilla midfielder Guido Pizarro, according to reports.

The Argentine joined Los Rojiblancos in an €8m deal from Tigres last summer, making 40 appearances and netting two goals – including a last-minute equaliser against Liverpool.

A report in Argentine media outlet TyC Sports claims the Galician side are now in the running for the central midfielder but would need to pay €8.7m.

Celta boss Antonio Mohamed coached in Mexico across the four seasons which Pizarro spent at Tigres and has reportedly given his go-ahead to any potential move.

Former club Tigres and Argentine giants Boca Juniors have also publicly declared their interest in the midfielder, who has won two caps for his national side.
