‘Barca my home’ – Umtiti

Samuel Umtiti has called Barcelona his ‘home’ and he ‘could not play anywhere else’ after penning a new five-year contract at the club.

The Cameroonian-born defender, who has also seen his release clause rise to €500m, has committed his long-term future to the Catalan giants.

“Barca is my home,” Umtiti told reporters on Monday.

“The priority for me was to renew at this club because for me, this is the best club in the world, with the best players and the best for me to continue to grow.

“I cannot see myself playing for any other team.”

The 24-year-old joined Barca from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2016 for €25m and has gone on to make 83 appearances at Camp Nou, winning a Liga title and two Copa del Rey.
