Ter Stegen enjoys African experience

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen says he really enjoyed the experience of his first trip to South Africa.

Ernesto Valverde’s men eased to a 3-1 friendly victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Mandela Centenary Cup in Johannesburg, and the Barca stopper was pleased the fans supported both teams in exactly the same manner.

“It was a super nice experience for every one of us and I’m happy we won the match in the end,” the Germany international told SuperSport TV.

“It was all about the experience but it felt good to get the victory and it was important for the fans.

“It wasn’t only about the match but about the experience, the atmosphere, and seeing the people here I’m so happy for it.

“It was amazing because in the end they supported both teams the same way. That’s how it should be for a match like this.

“Thank you for your support; it was great for all of us and hopefully we will come back soon,” he enthused.
