Almost 3,000 Barcelona members have been suspended after being accused of falsifying tickets for El Clasico.
Marca reports that the suspensions came about following a large operation involving 120 club staff, after which 2,823 fraudulent season tickets were seized, accounting for 3-4 per cent of total ticket sales.
“It is the largest and most forceful action against fraud and resale that has been carried out,” revealed Barcelona spokesperson Josep Vives at a Press conference.
“They are counterfeit entries based on a subscription with sophisticated means and methods to do something like that.”
Barcelona have now provisionally suspended the members involved and all are believed to have been informed there will be disciplinary proceedings, with the season tickets withdrawn going to members who are on the waiting list.
