Real Betis boss Quique Setien has defended Andres Guardado after he was criticised for his display in the derby against Sevilla.
The Mexican came under fire despite not being in the best physical condition, but Setien was quick to respond.
“I’m sure he is the best player I will have trained or have trained so far,” Setien told Marca.
“It’s not just his execution of things, his technique, or the tactics he employs during a game, but also the enthusiasm he transmits to the rest of his teammates.
“Right from the start I knew he was going to be an important player for us.”
