Villarreal boss Javi Calleja felt his players were in awe of Barcelona during the 5-1 thrashing at the Camp Nou.
“We thought more about who we were playing than how we had to play. They scored quickly and I expected the Barca we met tonight – motivated and wanting to finish La Liga without losing,” Calleja told reporters.
“We have two games left and we need a victory, so our war is next weekend. Everything depends upon ourselves and our game at Deportivo is now even more important.
“Winning there would get us into Europe mathematically and then we’d fight to be fifth or sixth. The Barca game has gone and we have to forget about it.”
