Valverde plans Barca rotations

Ernesto Valverde admits he may make several changes to the Barcelona team that takes on Villarreal at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

The Catalans played more than half last weekend’s El Clasico with 10 men and will play three games within a week.

“We want to maintain the level to which we are accustomed, something we’ve already done but I want to keep that high and get the victory,” Valverde told a Press conference.

“These games are good chance to look at other players but we want to win our three remaining matches, so we have to pick a competitive team.”

Valverde also took stock of his first season at Barcelona, where his side has remained unbeaten in La Liga but crashed out of the Champions League with a shock defeat to Roma.

“At this club it’s appreciated that you must win everything, and the reality is that we have not won everything.

“It’s true we had many difficulties at the beginning and we have overcome enough expectations. After that we created others, but we had a horrible day in Rome, and that game penalised us a lot, but in general I think it has been a great season.”
