Gomez out of Champions League final

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has been ruled out of the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26.

The young defender suffered an ankle injury during England’s international friendly with Holland in March, although he returned to the team for Premier League games against West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.

However, despite completing the full game against Stoke, he damaged the ankle again and it appears to have come at a cost as he will now miss the clash against Zinedine Zidane’s men.

The 20-year-old is also expected to miss the World Cup in Russia this summer after he undergoes an operation to correct the problem.
