Carvajal: No risks ahead of CL final

Dani Carvajal has confirmed he is not taking any chances with his hamstring injury ahead of the Champions League final.

The Real Madrid defender is confident of making the May 26 date against Liverpool in Kiev, but says he will not push himself too much after injuring himself in the semi-final win over Bayern Munich.

“I’ve already started playing with the ball and I feel fantastic,” said Carvajal, who was speaking at an event at Francisco de Vitoria University.

“I’ve had no pain for days and already have my mind set on Kiev, so I won’t even take the slightest risk.”

Carvajal was asked about Mohamed Salah’s incredible form for Liverpool this term, but insists the Merseyside club are far more than just a one-man team.

“No side reaches a Champions League final with just one player. They have done really well and their path wasn’t easy; they are there because they deserve to be and it will be a very exciting game.

“It’s also clear this is a wonderful era for us in the competition and it isn’t easy to get to the final, but it’s true that our club has been managed very well.

“We’ve had some wonderful squads and we are in a winning team, so hopefully we can claim a 13th,” he added.
