Eibar Coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has clarified he had ‘no doubts’ about his decision to extend his stay with the club for a further year.
The 57-year-old took charge of Los Armeros in 2015 after they were spared relegation by the courts and has gone on to establish them in La Liga.
There were reports the Basque would depart at the end of the season amid links to Real Sociedad, but he has committed his future to the club.
“I was clear at all times I wanted to continue, there were no doubts” Mendilibar is cited as saying by Marca.
“We secured our safety relatively early and I have been that my idea was to stay at this club, I have been calm at all times and I am happy to renew for one more year.
“This is the right decision as there is a clear understanding with the club, the right structure and facilities in place and that continuity will help.
“I wish to thank the club for their confidence in me, we are heading into another season and thinks continue to improve.”
