Valverde: Barca extraordinary, but…

Ernesto Valverde revelled in Barcelona’s ‘extraordinary’ domestic double but warned ‘the most complicated thing is to not tire of winning’.

“It’s an objective that we’ve pursued throughout the season, and ultimately we’re celebrating it here,” said the Coach after Barca clinched their seventh Liga title in 10 with a 4-2 win at relegated Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.

“It’s the longest competition and the one that feeds you. We started in August, we overcame the winter and now we can celebrate it.

“We’ve got here very well, with a certain margin. I think we’ve been the best team in the League.

“The most complicated thing is to not tire of winning. For teams like us, the hard part is to win, win and keep winning.

“Sometimes it’s very complicated. In my case, it’s my first Liga title, although I had won three in Greece.

“Our elimination from the Champions League affected us a bit because it happened unexpectedly, but our trajectory in the League and Copa has been extraordinary.

“My bit? I tried to tap into the dynamics of the team, bringing in certain things, without causing too much fuss.

“I tried to keep the team as together as possible. Sometimes it’s been for the better, sometimes for the worse.

“I’m not the first Coach to win trophies here, but the truth is that we have a great squad.

“It would be something unique and extraordinary if we won the League without losing a game.”
