QSF: Espanyol must stand up to critics

Quique Sanchez Flores has urged his Espanyol side to ‘stand up’ to the criticism after going five matches without scoring a goal.

The Catalan side have managed just two victories in 15 league games and Wednesday’s 0-1 defeat at home to Eibar extended their miserable form.

“We have to stand up to this criticism,” Sanchez Flores told reporters after the match, as cited by El Mundo.

“The feedback from the stands is based on what they are seeing and what is generated from our team, so when we are not playing well we must accept this (the boos) can happen.

“We have to accept the consequences of this and deal with it, but it should act as a motivational factor for us.”

It was also a prickly press conference, with the Coach believing a journalist had laughed after posing a question regarding the club’s form.

“If you do not ask me about the game, I will not answer you,” Sanchez Flores replied, before blasting: “Are you laughing? Next question.”
